- NIE
- Número de Identidad de Extranjero — the single personal number Spain gives to every foreigner.
- TIE
- Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero — the photo residence card a non-EU resident keeps on hand.
- Cita previa
- The booked-ahead appointment you are required to hold before most Spanish public offices will see you.
- Empadronamiento
- Your entry on the municipal roll (padrón) at your address on Menorca.
- EX-15
- The official application form for requesting a NIE.
- EX-17
- The official application form for requesting a TIE card.
- Modelo 790-012
- The tax form for paying the NIE and TIE government fee.
- Autónomo
- A self-employed worker who is signed up with the Spanish tax and social security systems.
- Número de soporte
- The support / IXESP reference on your certificate or card, used to verify your identity online.
- NUSS
- Número de la Seguridad Social — the social security number that ties you to the Spanish system.
- Autorización de regreso
- A short-term permit to re-enter Spain while your residence card has expired or is in renewal.
- Padrón
- The municipal roll of residents that each ayuntamiento (town hall) maintains.
