Hosting a guest on Menorca: the carta de invitación

The carta de invitación is an official document, issued by the police, confirming that a visitor has somewhere to stay with you on Menorca. It is often part of a short-stay visa application, and it is a small but exacting piece of paperwork.

How it works

As the host you request the document at the Maó police station, showing where you live and how you know your guest. Once it is granted, you send it on to your visitor for their own visa file.

In Menorca

Most the carta de invitación requests across the Balearic Islands pass through the Menorca office. We know exactly what they ask for — and we accompany you, whether you live in central Menorca or out in Es Castell.
